An ELD records where trucks go and how long drivers work — that's its legal job. Here's exactly what we collect, what we do with it, and what we will never do with it.

Last updated: August 13, 2026
Plain-English summary: We collect what an ELD is required to record — engine, location and duty-status data — plus basic account details. We use it to keep your compliance records and to show your fleet to you. We don't sell personal data, we don't run ad trackers, and location data leaves the platform only when a driver hands logs to a safety official or the law requires it. Questions or data requests: support@drayeld.com.

1. What we collect

  • Account information. Name, email address, company and carrier details you enter when setting up drivers, vehicles and the fleet account, and billing details (card processing is handled by our payment processor — we don't store full card numbers).
  • Vehicle & engine data. Data the device reads from the vehicle's diagnostic port that the ELD function needs: engine power status, motion status, miles driven, engine hours and related diagnostic information.
  • Location data. GPS position of the vehicle, recorded as part of ELD records and used for fleet monitoring. More on this in section 4.
  • Duty-status records. Records of duty status (RODS), log edits and annotations, certifications, DVIR entries and roadside transfer events.
  • App and service data. Basic technical information — device model, app version, connectivity status — needed to run, troubleshoot and support the apps.

2. How we use it

  • Compliance records. Creating, storing, displaying and transferring records of duty status as the ELD rule requires.
  • Fleet visibility. Showing your own trucks, drivers, clocks, assets and alerts to the people authorized on your fleet account.
  • Support. Diagnosing problems, replacing devices and answering your email.
  • Billing. Charging the flat subscription and hardware purchases you've ordered.
  • Running the service. Operational monitoring and improvement of the platform itself.

3. What we don't do

  • We do not sell personal data. Not driver data, not location history, not anything.
  • We do not use ad networks or third-party advertising trackers on the platform or this website.
  • We do not use your fleet's operational data to advertise to you or anyone else.

4. Location data

Location is not optional in an ELD — the FMCSA's ELD rule requires position information to be recorded as part of duty-status records, and it's what makes the live fleet map work. Location data from your vehicles is visible to the authorized users on your own fleet account, is stored as part of your compliance records, and is included in the records shown or transferred to safety officials at roadside when the driver initiates it. We don't publish it or share it beyond what section 6 describes.

5. Data retention

ELD records are kept in line with FMCSA retention requirements — carriers are required to retain records of duty status and supporting documents for at least six months, so we retain your ELD records for at least that period, and longer while your account remains active so your history is available to you. Account information is kept for as long as you have an account. If you close your account, we delete or de-identify data that we're not legally required to keep; retention rules for compliance records still apply even after cancellation, so export what you need or ask support for a copy.

6. When data is shared

  • Authorized safety officials. At roadside inspection or audit, log data is displayed or transferred to officials when the driver takes that action in the app, using FMCSA-supported transfer methods.
  • Your own fleet. Drivers' duty and location data is visible to the carrier account they drive for — that's what the product is.
  • Payment processor. Billing details are shared with the payment processor that handles card transactions.
  • Infrastructure providers. Like any cloud service, we run on hosting and connectivity providers that process data on our behalf to operate the service.
  • Legal requirements. We disclose data if a law, court order or lawful government demand requires it.
  • Never: ad networks, data brokers, or buyers of any kind. There aren't any.

7. Security

Data moves between the device, the apps and our servers over encrypted connections, and access inside DRAYELD is limited to people who need it to run the service or help you. No system is perfectly secure, so we don't promise the impossible — but if we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we'll tell you promptly. If you spot a security problem, report it to support@drayeld.com and we'll act on it.

8. Driver rights & data requests

Drivers can see their own logs, clocks and history in the app at any time, and can make edits and annotations through the normal ELD workflow (edits never erase the original record — that's by design and by rule).

To request a copy of your data, ask a question about it, correct account information, or request deletion of data we're not required to retain, email support@drayeld.com from the address on the account. One note for company drivers: the fleet account is administered by your carrier, so some requests about fleet records may need to go through them.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of the page, and if the change is material we'll email account holders before it takes effect. We won't quietly reduce your privacy: a change that lets us do more with your data than this page describes would be announced, not buried.

10. Contact

Privacy questions and data requests go to the same humans as everything else:
